Indian team routed Bangladesh for 150 runs in 1st innings | AFPThe first Test between India and Bangladesh went underway at the Holkar Stadium in Indore and saw the home side run through the opposition batting like a warm knife through butter.

Bangladesh’s new captain Mominul Haque won the toss and chose to bat first on a lively wicket. However, the decision backfired as both openers Shadman Islam and Imrul Kayes fell for 6 runs apiece. Mohammad Mithun fell for 13, while Captain Haque made 37 runs before shouldering a delivery from Ashwin, which castled his off stump. Ashwin also bowled Mahmudullah.

A small partnership developed between Mushfiqur (43) and Liton (21), but Shami removed Mushfiqur and Miraz in two balls after Ishant had Liton caught in slips by Kohli. Remaining batsmen fell like nine pins as Bangladesh was bowled out for 150 in 58.3 overs.

Mohammad Shami picked 3/27, while R Ashwin (2/43), Umesh Yadav (2/47) and Ishant Sharma (2/20) shared the wickets equally.

India lost Rohit Sharma for 6 to Abu Jayed, but Mayank (37*) and Pujara (43*) added 72* runs till the end of day’s play as India made 86/1.
