Preparations are ongoing for India's first-ever D/N Test against Bangladesh in Kolkata starting November 22. The team management is, in fact, set for a few training sessions with the pink ball under lights in Indore itself, the venue for the first Test of the two-match series.

In the meantime, Test specialists Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane spoke over the challenges batsmen can expect to face during the match at the great Eden Gardens.

Pujara, especially, feels surviving that twilight period when the natural brightness goes off and the light towers begin taking over will be quite a challenge.

"I have played earlier with pink ball in the Duleep Trophy, that was good experience. Playing with pink ball at the domestic level could come in handy," he told BCCI.tv.

"Visibility is not an issue during the day, it will be an issue in twilight and under lights, the twilight could be a little difficult. Those sessions will be crucial," Pujara added. "Most players have said that picking the wrist spinners’ wrong ‘un is a little difficult."

Besides the experience of Duleep Trophy, the Indian players will only have a few timely training sessions, including one overseen by Rahul Dravid at the NCA on Sunday (November 10), for help.

"It is a new challenge, we don’t know how things will pan out," Rahane said. "But two-three practice sessions before the match will give us a fair idea about the pink ball -- how much it swings, how the ball plays session wise."

"Playing the ball late and close to the body will be the key. I don’t think we will have much trouble adapting to the pink ball."

Bangladeshi players, though, have had only one pink ball first-class game under lights.
