Deepak Chahar is on cloud nine at the moment | IANSDeepak Chahar picked record T20I bowling figures of 6/7 in the third T20I of the three-match series at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur against Bangladesh and helped the Men in Blue clinch the series 2-1. He also became the first Indian to pick a hat-trick in the T20I format.

Speaking about his son’s achievement, Deepak’s father Lokendrasingh Chahar said, "He must have bowled at least one lakh deliveries in the nets before this performance came along.

Deepak Chahar first came into prominence for his amazing debut in Ranji Trophy, as he picked 8/10 for Rajasthan against Hyderabad, skittling them out for 27 runs. However, he sustained back injuries at the wrong time of his career. The swing bowler had the ability to move the ball in air both ways.

"Now I feel that the dream that we both had harbored is slowly getting realized. I would say he sustained injuries at important phases of his career. The timing of the injury also becomes very important,” said Lokendrasingh, a retired Indian Air Force employee.

However, he saw a resurgence in his career when he was picked by MS Dhoni in the rising Pune Supergiant franchise in IPL and that association continued in the Chennai Super Kings as well. After 10 wickets in the 2018 season, Chahar was in his elements this year too, fetching 22 wickets and was in the stand-by in India's World Cup squad in England.
