IND v BAN 2019: Deepak Chahar makes significant gain in ICC T20I rankings after heroics against Bangladesh

Chahar took eight wickets in three T20Is against Bangladesh.

India pacer Deepak Chahar, who returned with the record-breaking bowling figures of 6/7 in the third T20I against Bangladesh in Nagpur on Sunday (November 10), has jumped up 88 slots to 42nd position in the latest ICC T20I rankings for bowlers.

However, the list is still dominated by slow bowlers. Rashid Khan (757 rating points) is holding the top spot followed by Mitchell Santner (700 rating points), Imad Wasim (686 rating points), Adam Zampa (678 rating points) and Shadab Khan (673 rating points). Adil Rashid (7th), Mujeeb Ur Rahman (8th) and Ashton Agar (9th) are the other three spinners in the top 10.

As per the ICC release, Dawid Malan, whose tally of 458 runs is more than anyone else after their first 9 matches, has advanced to No.3 position on the batting chart, while Australia skipper Aaron Finch has moved up two spots to reach second position. The batting list is headed by Pakistan captain Babar Azam with 876 rating points.

The updated T20I rankings take into account the performances of ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019, Australia-Pakistan series, New Zealand-England series and India-Bangladesh series.

England captain Eoin Morgan and New Zealand opener Martin Guptill have also made significant gains to take joint 9th place while Jonny Bairstow has reached a career-best 498 rating points and is in the top 40 for the first time.

Bangladesh batsman Mohammad Naim's 143 runs in three T20Is saw him attain joint-38th position along with Bairstow. Other batsmen to progress in the rankings include Scotland’s Calum MacLeod (up five places to 44th), UAE’s Muhammad Usman (up 18 places to 45th) and Oman’s Jatinder Singh (up 54 places to 46th).

In the all-rounders' table, Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi has taken the top spot while Oman's Zeeshan Maqsood has moved up from 11th to 6th position.

In the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings, Pakistan continue to stay atop with 270 points but Australia are only one point behind them after winning the three-match series 2-0. England (265), South Africa (262) and India (260) occupy the next three positions.
