India and Bangladesh faced each other in the second game of the three-match T20I series at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Thursday (November 7).
Opting to bowl first, the hosts restricted Bangladesh to 153/6 in 20 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal was the stand-out bowler for India, claiming 2 for 28 in his 4 overs. Deepak Chahar and Washington Sundar also picked up one wicket each by conceding 25 runs in their stipulated 4 overs.
Some of the visiting batsmen got starts but failed to make it count. Mohammad Naim was the top-scorer for Bangladesh with 31-ball 36 while Soumya Sarkar and skipper Mahmudullah made 30 runs each.
In reply, Indian captain Rohit Sharma made the mockery of opposition bowlers. He completed his fifty off just 23 deliveries and added 118 runs for the opening wicket with Shikhar Dhawan.
Although Aminul Islam got rid of Dhawan (31 off 27 balls) and Rohit (85 off 43 balls; 6×4s, 6×6s) in successive overs, India didn’t face any problem to score the remaining runs with the required run-rate under check.
KL Rahul (8 off 11 balls) and Shreyas Iyer (24 off 13 balls) shared an unbeaten 29-run partnership for the third wicket to eventually guide India over the line with 26 balls to spare.
Cricket fraternity was left in awe by Rohit’s dazzling batting effort which helped India to square the series 1-1 with a game to go.
