Reports about MS Dhoni to be seen in a new role, behind the mic, for the upcoming day-night Test between India and Bangladesh left fans in a frenzy. The former India captain isn't active currently, and broadcaster Star Sports wants him to join the commentary panel for India's first pink-ball Test match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Although Dhoni may not be busy, there is still not a hundred percent clarity on whether he will be allowed to be in the commentary box or not.

As per ANI, Star has sent BCCI a proposal, but they haven't received a confirmation yet. A BCCI source told ANI: "Yes, the broadcasters have sent the proposal, but no decision has been taken as of now... If BCCI gives the permission, then Dhoni would be seen doing commentary on the day-night test, to be played in Eden Gardens."

The day-night Test between India and Bangladesh is starting from November 22.

Dhoni hasn't taken the field since India's exit from World Cup 2019. It was seen as his last game, but the Jharkhand cricketer hasn't made any official announcement regarding retirement. Even the selectors don't see him as a future asset.
