Newly appointed BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has succeeded in a milestone decision of bringing the day-night Test match in India. The Virat Kohli-led team will play their first-ever pink-ball game against the visiting Bangladesh side, in what is the second Test of the two-match series, to be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Notably, Ganguly was previously the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal and had experimented with the pink ball in domestic games in the state. The former India captain has been a huge supporter of the pink-ball Test in order to save the five-day format’s future.
“Test cricket needs this push. Me and secretary Jay (Shah) and our new team were pretty hell-bent on it. Thanks to Virat (Kohli) also, he agreed to straight away. And even more to Bangladesh Cricket Board that they agreed at such short notice. It's a good way forward,” he added.
This move of the new President has been lauded by Indian cricket fraternity on Twitter and they praised Sourav Ganguly wholeheartedly.
