IND v AUS 2020: BCCI issues injury update on Dhawan, Rohit before the series decider

IND v AUS 2020: BCCI issues injury update on Dhawan, Rohit before the series decider

Both players got injured during the second ODI in Rajkot on Friday.

Rohit injured his shoulder during the Rajkot ODI | AFPAfter India's comeback victory in the Rajkot ODI versus Australia, all eyes are on the series decider to be played in Bangalore this Sunday (January 19).

Meanwhile, there is also curiosity over the fitness of team's regular openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma.

Dhawan injured his rib-cage after a blow while batting in the second ODI where he missed out on a ton (96) and skipped the second half of the game with the team management taking a precautionary measure.

Rohit, on the other hand, hurt his shoulder as he dived to save the boundary during the 43rd over of the run-chase and was immediately taken off the field after he was seen grabbing the arm in pain.

But the good news for all Indian fans is that the BCCI has provided a positive injury update on the duo just hours prior to the series finale.

"Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are progressing well," says the BCCI media release. "Their recovery is being closely monitored and a call on their participation in the final ODI will be taken tomorrow before the match"

However, if unfortunately both or even one of them is not fully fit before the start of the third ODI, India will have to once again shuffle its batting order; probably ask in-form KL Rahul to rechange his position after batting at No.5 in the last game and promote someone from the middle-order to open with him.
