IND v AUS 2020: Cricket fraternity praises Team India's 36-run win in Rajkot ODI; series leveled 1-1

The match saw 644 runs being made for 16 wicket, without a single century.

Steve Smith scored 98 | APThe Indian team avenged their humiliation in the first ODI at Mumbai in style, as after an impressive batting performance, the bowlers did their jobs as well.

After Dhawan (96), Kohli (78) and Rahul (80) helped the Indian team to an imposing total of 340/6 in 50 overs; the bowlers did their job of picking wickets at regular intervals despite some valiant effort from Australian batting lineup. Warner fell for 15 to a brilliant catch by Pandey off Shami, while Finch (33), added 60 odd runs with Steve Smith before getting stumped off Jadeja.

Smith made 98 and Labuschagne made 46 in his first outing in ODIs and added 96 runs for the third wicket to give India a scare, but the mounting required run-rate proved vital, as Marnus was caught by Shami off Jadeja and Smith was bowled by Kuldeep.

Kuldeep completed his 100 wickets in ODIs | APThe left-arm chinaman also accounted for Alex Carey (18), before Shami bowled two perfect yorkers to get rid of Turner and Cummins before umpire Virender Sharma turned down a confident LBW appeal off Starc.

Agar fought a bit for his 25 before Saini got him LBW and on the next ball, Starc also fell to the young quick. Australia managed 304, with Bumrah picking one wicket and India won the match by 36 runs. Saini (2/62), Jadeja (2/58) and Kuldeep (2/65) were the chief wreckers, while Shami picked 3/77 in his quota of 10 overs. Kuldeep Yadav completed 100 wickets in ODIs, in his 58th match, the second-fastest for India.

The final and third ODI will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. January 19.

The cricket fraternity showered their praises on the victorious Indian team on Twitter and we have some tweets for you.
