Australia won the first encounter on their tour to India. The opening match of the three-match ODI series was played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The visiting side chased down 256 runs without loss of a single wicket.

It was the partnership of David Warner and Aaron Finch which didn't allow India bowlers to break through and get a chance to trouble the Aussie middle order.

Warner, who smashed a hundred, was more amused about an incident during first innings of the match, than his innings it seems. At the press conference, he talked about the moment when the game was stopped because of a kite.

India is currently celebrating Makar Sankranti, a festival in which people fly kites and compete with each other. One such kite had fallen into the ground. Warner saw it getting caught on the Spidercam and he thought it was dangerous.

Jasprit Bumrah told Warner about the kite festival as he handed over the kite to the umpire. "Well, it is the kite festival. I heard so it's very bizarre, it got caught on Spidercam and I thought it was a little bit dangerous and Bumrah decided to come out and just snap it and I said "that's some poor kid's kite," but yes it was very bizarre, very bizarre," Warner said after the first ODI.

After winning the first match, Australia and India will meet each other in the second ODI at Rajkot. It will be a good opportunity for the Aaron Finch-led side to win the ODI series.
