IND v AUS 2020: Sanjay Manjrekar targeted by Twitterverse for his tweet following Jadeja’s wicket

Manjrekar praised Australia for quality cricket as Jadeja fell to Richardson.

Ravindra Jadeja played a neat little cameo | APThe first ODI between India and Australia got underway at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Two of the top teams in the format have a storied rivalry, especially when the Kangaroos defeated the home side 3-2 when the last time, they met in ODIs in India.

Australia won the toss and chose to chase. Indian team management chose to experiment with their batting order, given that they included Rohit, Dhawan as well as Rahul in the playing XI. Meaning that Kohli batted at no.4 and Iyer slipped to the 5th position.

Rohit Sharma got out early for 10, but Dhawan (74) and Rahul (47) added 121 runs for the second wicket. But then Australian bowlers struck again, as wickets fell in heap with Kohli going for 16, and Iyer for 5. The team then saw some recovery form Jadeja (28) and Pant (25), as they added 49 runs for the sixth wicket when Jadeja fell to Kane Richardson.

At the same moment, Sanjay Manjrekar, who has once famously called Jadeja a bits and pieces cricketer during the World Cup 2019, made an unwitting tweet praising the Australian team. He posted, “Yes, quality cricket! Thanks Australia! ????

This tweet was enough to rile up the Indian fans, who are already fed up with Manjrekar’s biased commentary and his tiffs with fellow commentators. They decided to take him to the task and targeted him.
