Irfan Pathan believes India has an edge over Australia in the upcoming ODI series at home but will be equally rated with them in the T20 World Cup 2020.

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket seven years after playing his last international game. He is now an expert for the official broadcasters of the upcoming ODI series between India and Australia. Speaking on one of the shows, he opined that the hosts have an edge over the Aussies.

In the past, that wasn’t the case because they were doing really well. We were trying to match that level. I feel that Indian cricket is a notch ahead in terms of talent, in terms of cricket and in terms of confidence,” he said.

IND v AUS 2020: "Our game plan in those conditions is good enough", Finch confident before India tour

However, he believes that it will not remain the same when the Indians will travel to Australia for the T20 World Cup 2020 in nine months’ time. The edge will equal out as the Men in Blue don’t have enough experience of playing on hard and bouncy pitches Down Under.

He said, “The only thing that will make it equal is the kind of pitches we are going to play in Australia because we do not have experience playing on those hard and bouncy pitches.

Pathan made his debut in Australia back in 2003 and helped India win a Test in the country after 21 years. It has remained as his favorite memory of the country even after 17 years.

It all started in Australia for me. The most memorable moment was getting my first wicket and helping India win a Test match in Australia after 21 years. Winning the Test in Perth and being named the Man of the Match is also a favorite memory for me,” he said.
