Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been widely compared with him throughout his career. But he now has the chance to settle up those debates and go one past Mark Boucher during the upcoming limited-overs series against Australia.

India plays two T20Is and five ODIs at home versus the arch-rival from down under and its great wicketkeeper batsman has the opportunity to break an astonishing record.

Dhoni, if he plays three more games, will leave Boucher behind in the elite list that includes cricketers, who have played most number of International matches across formats as a wicketkeeper batsman.

The former Indian captain has featured in 594 games so far, only two behind the ex-South African gloveman. Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara with 499 and legendary Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist with 485 are third and fourth respectively.

Dhoni also has the record of playing joint-third most number of One-day Internationals for India with Mohammad Azharuddin. He has taken the field in 334 ODIs for his country and 3 ODIs for Asia XI.
