Afghanistan is all set to make a grand entry to “ultimate” Test arena when they will lock horns against India in their maiden Test on Thursday (14 June) and Captain Asghar Stanikzai is already feeling the “goosebumps” of leading the side in their first-ever Test match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

However, Stanikzai will be missing his family as they could not travel to watch the historic match in Bangalore.

The 30-year-old is eager for the moment when the national anthem blares out of the speakers before the match at Chinnaswamy Stadium, while they will be sporting the whites for the first time, which will be really a proud and emotional moment for not only the player but the entire country.

Stanikzai told Sportstar, “Ghar se toh koi nahi aa raha hai (Nobody will be coming from home). But our senior officials and cricketers are here for the historic Test. When the national anthem plays, each players will be feeling emotional. Sab ke rongte khade ho jayenge (they will have goosebumps).”

He further added, “You must be remembering the moment when we played our first T20, then there was the ODI. But trust me, Test is the ultimate. So, it has always been a dream to don the whites. If the match can last for three or four days, our President (Ashraf Ghani) may be here too to support us.”

Afghanistan earned the Test status after their string of hard work and Stanikzai feels this is one moment he will cherish for long and doesn’t want to miss out on a single moment of the match.

Stanikzai signed off by saying, “For every country, the inaugural Test match is a big thing. We are creating history, that too against India, which is the No.1 Test team and it plays well at home. So, it is a big opportunity for us. But remember, it is also going to be a big match for India.”
