The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently busy in the preparation for the historic Test match between India and Afghanistan to be held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, from 14 June after wrapping up the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

On 29 May (Tuesday), a BCCI delegation headed by acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary arrived Kabul on a formal invitation of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chairman Mashal Atif to discuss bilateral ties and cricket development between the two nations.

The delegation of both boards also met the Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani to discuss the future bilateral ties and Indo-Afghan cricketing relations.

Besides discussing future tours and programmes, the BCCI officials invited Honorable Prime Minister of Afghanistan to attend the historic match in Bengaluru.

As per reports in Sportstar, a well-placed source said, “During the meeting, the BCCI officials invited the President for the historic match. The trip is about the strong bond between the two countries.”

Meanwhile, the Afghanistan President’s Office confirmed that Ghani did have a meeting with the BCCI officials, but didn’t comment on whether the President will arrive Bengaluru to cheer his team in their maiden Test match against the Men in Blue next month.

The source informed, “A decision could be taken in the next few days.”

On the other hand, Afghanistan has already announced squad for their maiden Test match and would certainly like to make it a memorable debut against Virat Kohli less Indian side next month.
