Wriddhiman Saha is very close to being ruled out from the one-off Test against Afghanistan starting in Bengaluru from June 14. Saha suffered an injury in the second qualifier game of IPL 2018. He was struck by KKR pacer Shivam Mavi on the thumb during the knockout game.

As a result of his injury, Saha had to miss out the final against Chennai Super Kings. Sources said Sunrisers Hyderabad have informed BCCI about Saha's injury a day before the final. "Saha has been advised rest as his medical report says he has a broken thumb and he can only play after 5-6 weeks," BCCI sources said. The board is likely to announce his replacement soon.

This is Saha's second major injury this year. He had missed the second and third Tests during India's tour of South Africa in January. He suffered an upper left hamstring tendon injury during training before the second Test and Parthiv Patel took his position in both the matches.

According to latest reports, if he might recover from his injury before the England series he is expected to be a part of the team for the 5 match Test series starting from August 1.
