S Sreesanth thinks Indian bowling attack wasn't as good as they were portrayed in England

Performance of Indian bowlers was rated better than India's previous tours to England.

Indian bowling attack in 2018 showed an outstanding performance in England after a long time. They were successful in taking all twenty wickets in three of the five matches. But former India pacer S Sreesanth feels the bowling unit was over-hyped.

Sreesanth was a part of India's Test side which toured England in 2007. In the three Test matches he played there a decade back, the 35-year-old had picked 9 wickets.

“I did follow the England series. I must say I was very disappointed with the bowling. The last series win was in 2007 which I was part of. I, RP Singh and Zaheer Khan were there. We saved a Test in Lord’s,” Sreesanth said.

“I am not trying to say the 2007 attack was better. But Ishant has been the most experienced bowler and he should have finished with 25 wickets, not 18. I am not saying five wickets in an innings. But five wickets in a Test was needed, like two-plus three wickets in each innings.”

The banned India cricketer, who is part of a reality show on Colors TV, Bigg Boss, is hopeful of a comeback to competitive cricket. He wants to play a game before retiring.

Sreesanth further said that he is confident of coming back into the competitive cricket and his dream is to play at least one official game before retiring.

“I have been keeping myself very busy with training. God has been kind to me. It is a matter of one order from the court which should allow me to play. The Kerala Cricket Association has been very supportive. The ban is yet to be lifted. Once that is lifted, I think I will be more active. I am 35, I think I have got another six-seven year,” he said.

Sreesanth sees Bigg Boss 12 as an opportunity to present himself to the fans.

“The show is as real as it can be, there is nothing to hide. I would have loved to do it in 2011 but it did not happen. I have been associated with the channel and I was sure sooner or later I would be doing the show. I am happy to be doing this because everything about my non-cricket career is getting sorted. I have done four movies already, so the artistic side of mine is coming to the fore,” he said.
