ENG v IND 2018: Big challenge for India to win the Oval Test, says Gautam Gambhir

India managed to get only 2 wickets on Day 2.

Engaldn are at top at the Oval against India

England and India are currently competing in the fifth and final Test at The Oval with Egland in a commanding position with a lead inching closer to 300 and pushing India closer to yet another defeat.

England ended day 3 on a dominating position and has continued their dominance on Day 4 as well with Alastair Cook hitting a ton in the final innings of his Test career.

Veteran Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir has come out with his opinion after the third day’s play at the Oval, saying that the Indian bowlers should have come up with their magic to stop runs from the England openers.

As per reports in Times of India, Gambhir stated, “Another great day for England as they dominated the second and the third session just losing two wickets throughout the third day. They got a lead of 154 and would be very happy with their performance. India started off the day very well with Jadeja and Vihari, but there were lots of play and misses.”

He further went on to laud Mohammed Shami, who picked up Keaton Jennings’ wicket, saying, “Shami was outstanding throughout the day and he looked the most threatening bowler. Bumrah was good in periods, so was Ishant, but the day belonged to England.”

Meanwhile, Gambhir believes that if England could succeed in giving  India a target of 350  India will find it difficult to chase in the fourth innings as the pitch will start spinning and their spinners especially Moeen Ali will certainly take the advantage of it like Southampton.

Moreover, Gambhir signed off by saying, “If England can get around 350, it’s going to be very difficult for India in the third session of the fourth day and day five as well. Once the pitch starts spinning, Moeen Ali will come into play in a big way and they have got Adil Rashid as well. Rashid hasn’t done anything of sorts in the series, but once the pitch starts spinning, he’ll be a lethal prospect as well. England will well and truly be looking to dominate the fourth day.”
