Jos Buttler, England’s wicketkeeper-batsman, said on Monday (September 10) that it is enthralling to watch the face-off between Virat Kohli and James Anderson on the field.

At the moment,  England and India are competing in the five-match Test series, which the hosts already won with the teams are currently playing in the final Test at the Oval.

Kohli has been in scintillating form with the bat and has already scored 500 runs in the series with one final innings to go in the series. Anderson on the other end has failed to dismiss him throughout the series.

In the first eight Tests, including the 2014 series, the No.1 Test bowler managed to dismiss the dashing right-hander five times in 111 deliveries conceding just 30 runs, while Kohli survived the Anderson scare and managed to score 187 runs in 378 deliveries in the last eight matches, including ongoing Test series.

Buttler told Sky Sports about the rivalry between Kohli and Anderson, “Virat Kohli is one of the best player in the world if not the best at the minute and Jimmy Anderson is England's greatest ever bowler. So as a match up for fans and for players like us, it is awesome to watch. I think the two of them are immensely competitive. Jimmy has been particularly unlucky, he has created a lot of chances and did get real close and it has been great to watch.”

He signed off by saying, “I think Jimmy has been particularly unlucky. He’s created some great chances and been very close. If we could catch, he’d have (got him) a few (times).”

Noteworthy, Buttler has been also in the impressive form with the bat in the ongoing series against India, as the keeper is currently England’s leading run scorer with 349 runs from eight innings at an average of 43.62.
