The fifth and final Test between England and India might not have any effect on the result of the series that has been won by England. But for the England side, winning in this Test will be a perfect way to say goodbye to their former captain Alastair Cook, who is playing his final Test match.
Cook, who is playing his 161st and final Test, which is also his 159th on a trot, was given a rousing reception from the crowd at the Oval, as he walked onto the ground to open for England, after skipper Joe Root won his fifth toss in the Test series and chose to bat first.
Cook walked onto the field with children holding the flags of both the countries and then he walked through the guard of honor created by the Indian team and shook hands with Indian captain Virat Kohli before walking on the pitch to begin proceedings.
