ENG v IND 2017: KL Rahul, R Ashwin might get the boot for the final Test

India have lost the Pataudi Trophy to England who have a 3-1 lead with one match to go.

Indian selectors seemingly have had enough of KL Rahul and Shaw might get his India cap at Oval | GettyEngland defeated India in the fourth Test at Southampton to clinch the series 3-1 with one more Test match to go in the five-match series.

It was a disappointing performance from the Indian team, which had the Test match in their grasp, but failing to capitalize on key moments leading to their ultimate downfall. Virat Kohli cannot be blamed with the bat; however, his captaincy fell short of being what was needed in those moments.

Times of India reports that the team management has probably had enough of KL Rahul’s performance in the Tests so far and the 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw might finally make his Test debut at the Kia Oval.

Ravindra Jadeja might replace an injured R Ashwin at OvalRahul, who has played in four Tests, hasn’t managed to get going in any of them and has been extremely suspect of the incoming delivery, which has either bowled him or had him leg before wicket. The fact that he has been a safe slip catcher for India may not save him from getting the boot in the final Test match.

Another possible change might that be of Ravindra Jadeja finally getting to play a game for India in place of R Ashwin. It has been reported that R Ashwin, who had suffered a groin injury before the fourth Test but got fit in time to play in the game; might have reinjured himself while batting in the Test match.

This might pave the way for the left-arm spinning all-rounder Jadeja to play his first match on the England tour.
