Amidst the pouring reactions coming in to Alastair Cook's announcement that the great man will be retiring from the game after completion of the ongoing Test series against India, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has also paid a tribute to England's highest run-getter for yeoman service for his nation.

Earlier, great Graham Gooch, also paid a fitting tribute to the man for his excellent temperament and immaculate commitment.

Having seen Cook surpass his feat in 2015 as the batsman with most runs for England, Gooch was quoted saying, "Alastair has been the rock of England's batting for the last 12 years since he made his debut and while we are all sad to see him retire, we must rejoice in what he has done for our country," and added, "He is a genuine legend of English cricket, He is a legend not only because of his performances, but, because of his attitude, his sacrifices, the way he has carried himself and the example he has set. Alastair is a perfect role model and is the image of the game we want to project."

And now, another batting legend has showered the much deserving praise on the "Chef", as he is fondly called.

Tendulkar, who has played against the left-hand batsman, took to the social media network Twitter and posted a picture of Cook raising his bat, with a caption, "#AlastairCook has been one of the finest batsmen to have represented @ECB_cricket, and his conduct on-field and off it, has been impeccable. Well played Alastair. Wish you all the very best for what your 2nd innings has in store for you!"
