Indian pacer Ishant Sharma became the third Indian pacer, after Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan, to take 250 wickets in the Test cricket. He achieved the feat after taking English skipper Joe Root's wicket, his 250th scalp.
Jasprit Bumrah had earlier trapped Root in front of the wicket but the replay suggested it was a no-ball. After no time, Ishant sent the right-hand batsman back with a sharp in-swinging delivery.
Pratima Singh, a Basketball player, and wife of Ishant congratulated her husband. "Congratulations @ishant.sharma29 ???? so proud of you ❤️," she said.
Sharma has played a total of 86 Test for India taking 250 wickets with an economy rate of 3.25.
India and England are currently battling in Southampton. The tourists are looking to level the series. The English team has been bowled out on 246 runs. Sam Curran scored 78 runs, the most in England's first innings. For India, Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets.
