Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that Joe Root-led England cricket team must be feeling the pressure heading into the fourth Test against India to be played in Southampton from 30 August.

England made a brilliant start in the ongoing five-match Test series as the Three Lions comprehensively thumped Virat Kohli and Co at Edgbaston and Lord’s respectively to take a 2-0 lead in the series. India then made a fantastic comeback in the Test series by winning the third Test by 203 runs at Trent Bridge.

At the moment, the confidence level of the Indian team is high with their massive win in Nottingham and Kaif believes that India will certainly give a tough challenge to the hosts in the fourth Test.

As per reports in MyNation, Kaif said, “England must be feeling the pressure heading into the fourth Test in Southampton. In recent times, they have not been playing well. Their batting has flopped. Their batsmen have not been able to put big runs on the board. If India can make it 2-2 it will be an interesting final Test. There, I would back India to win the series 3-2.”

Meanwhile, the 37-year-old admitted that the Lord’s Test was tough for India but is confident that Virat Kohli and his team still have a great chance to win the Test series in England.

He signed off by saying, “Of course, India have a great chance to win the series. I think India should not have been in this position (2-1) the way they have played. They should have won the first Test at Edgbaston. Chasing less than 200 on a decent track, with the batting line-up we have, we should have won the first one, definitely. The Lord’s Test was tough for India. The conditions were overcast.”
