Former India opener Virender Sehwag strongly believes that Virat Kohli and company can win the remaining two Tests against England to clinch the five-Test series 3-2.

India secured a comprehensive 203-run victory over England in the third Test at Trent Bridge to stay alive in the five-Test series, trailing 2-1 going into the fourth Test, starting on Thursday (August 30) at The Rose Bowl, Southampton.

"Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, India can defeat England 3-2 to win Test series. It's tough but not impossible for the current set of players to win the Test series from this stage," Sehwag told India TV.

Kohli reclaimed the top spot in the latest ICC Test Rankings for batsman. He was the top-scorer for India both the innings at Trent Bridge. The Indian captain missed a century by just 3 runs in the first innings but he returned even stronger in the second dig to notch up his 23rd Test century (103). For his 200 runs in the match, Virat was adjudged Man of the Match.

Talking about Kohli, Sehwag hoped that the skipper remains in form to lead his side to the series win.

"Not just players but the entire nation has its faith in Virat Kohli. India are excessively dependent on their skipper. We hope he continues to score runs in following Test matches as well and take his team to the series triumph," Viru remarked.

During the 2014 England tour, Kohli had aggregated only 134 runs at a dismal average of 13.40 in five Test matches. However, he was determined to turn things around on this occasion. The 29-year-old waged a lone battle in the first Test at Edgbaston, scoring a magnificent 149 in the first innings and followed it with a flawless 51 in the second dig.

Virat has already crossed the 400-run mark in this series, becoming only the second Indian captain after Mohammad Azharuddin (426) to do so against England. Overall, he is the sixth Indian batsman to achieve this feat.

With two Tests still to go, it will be interesting to see how many runs Kohli manages to add in his already astonishing tally.
