Captain Joe Root has been told by the England Cricket Board(ECB) to miss participating in next year's Indian Premier League in order to be fit and ripe for the ICC Cricket World Cup and Ashes at home in the summer of 2019.

While, the three lions are currently busy playing the grueling Test series against India, they travel for all formats tour to Sri Lanka and West Indies in the winter.

Meanwhile, Joe Root and Jos Buttler are contracted to play for Sydney Thunders in the first half of Big Bash League's next edition. It's a short window just after the tour of Sri Lanka and before the series in the Caribbean.

Root, who is generally the most important player on the park when England plays, has been given clear directives to miss the T20 summer in India despite his publicly admitted urge to prove mettle in the game's shortest format too.

Interestingly, the same has not been conveyed to Jos Buttler.
