The third Test between England and India at Trent Bridge ended early on the fifth day despite resistance from Adil Rashid.
England gave their level best to make a match out of the chase of 521 runs. Jos Buttler’s 106, Ben Stokes’ 62 and their 169-run partnership saved England a lot of face. Jasprit Bumrah’s five-wicket haul was enough for India to see through the resistance, as the ask of chasing 521 runs was too much for the England lower order batsmen.
Adil Rashid and Stuart Broad stitched a 50 runs partnership for the 9th wicket and managed to stretch the innings into the 5th and final day. However, the end was inevitable and it came quickly as Ashwin removed James Anderson and England was dismissed for 317.
India won the Test by 203 runs.
The series now stands 2-1 in favor of England, but given the failures of their top order and injury to Bairstow, they have much more to worry than India, who came together as a unit for the first time in the series and contributions from all the members was seen in the win.
Cricket fraternity celebrated the win and applauded the Indian team with all enthusiasm. They took to Twitter to share their elation and we have collated some tweets for you.

Many congratulations to the Indian team on the victory at Trent Bridge. They showed a lot of character after being 2-0 down and am very happy with the way most of the batsmen applied themselves, and the bowlers were clinical too. Well deserved ! #ENGvIND
