Fast bowler Stuart Broad has been fined 15 percent match fee for breaching the International Cricket Council(ICC) code of conduct during the ongoing Trent Bridge Test. Broad exemplified a behaviour against the laws of the game, when in the first innings he gave an ugly and dare it would be said, cowardly, send off to young Rishabh Pant after getting the 20-year-old's wicket caught behind. 

With this being a breach of Article 2.1.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to, “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

Broad has always been given demerit point, according to the introduction of Revised Code in September 2016. 

He accepted and admitted the offense sanctioned by the ICC Match referee Jeff Crowe and so, there was no need for a formal hearing. The charges were levelled by the on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Chris Gaffaney and third umpire Aleem Dar as well. 

The Level 1 breach carries a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
