Team India made a triumphant comeback into the Pataudi Trophy as it will need just one wicket to beat England in the 3rd Test at Trent Bridge on the final day.
India made 329 in the first innings thanks to 97 from captain Virat Kohli and 81 from vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. James Anderson, Stuart Broad, and Chris Woakes picked three wickets each. England managed only 161 runs in their first innings with Hardik Pandya picking his maiden five-wicket haul.
India scored 352/7d in their second innings with Kohli making 103, Pujara making 72 and Pandya making 52*. This set England a target of 521 runs to win in the fourth innings.
England couldn’t handle the pressure applied by Indian bowlers, especially Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma, who rattled the top order leaving England 62/4. Jos Buttler (106) and Ben Stokes (62) added 169 runs for the fifth wicket to give some respect to England innings, but Bumrah hit back with wickets of Buttler and Bairstow; and with Pandya removing Stokes, the end was near for England.
However, Adil Rashid and Stuart Broad kept the Indian bowlers at bay despite pressure from both ends. India took the extra half hour to finish the job, but Rashid held the fort to take the game into the fifth day.
Cricket fraternity took to the social media platform to commend this performance of Team India and we have collated some tweets for you.
So everyone comes back tomorrow for, for all that you know, one ball!!

Fast and accurate. An excellent and effective spell of pace bowling from @Jaspritbumrah93. Dismissing the top & inform batters of England is a big performance in a comeback from injury match. #ENGvIND @BCCI

Outstanding work by India’s bowlers today, but victory deferred till tomorrow by England’s stout-hearted middle and lower order. Sleepless night worrying about the fickle weather though the forecast is reassuring
