ENG vs IND 2018: Stokes has been through enough punishment, says Michael Vaughan

Ben Stokes has been cleared of all charges of affray.

Ben Stokes has been cleared of all charges of affray.

Having been cleared of any charges of affray by the court of law in England, all-rounder Ben Stokes is now available for selection for the home team to play the rest of Test series against the visiting Indian side.

This, for Stokes, who has gone through a lot mentally for missing the whole of England's Ashes tour Down Under and then a huge drop in confidence and form till the Edgbaston Test, comes as a big relief.

The jury concerning the case on Tuesday, August 14,  together decided in a few hours that Stokes isn't guilty as was his co-defendant Ryan Ali, who was punched unconscious in the brawl.

Now though, Stokes is likely to face a charge of poor behaviour by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and it'll be heard by the Cricket Discipline Commission(CDC) which is chaired by former Derbyshire batsman Tim O'Gorman.

Mixed reactions have come through on the result of the case and one such is from former England Captain Michael Vaughan, who went on to say that Stokes has gone through the punishment that he possibly deserved by missing a lot of International Cricket for his country during the winter.

Vaughan tweeted, "I think the fact he missed the whole of the Winter in Australia is punishment enough for Ben Stokes, I personally think now he has been proven to be Not Guilty he should be allowed to play."

Stokes's teammate Jonny Bairstow also reacted on the matter and told Sky Sports, "I am really happy, It has been a long 10 months for him and his family. Hopefully, we will see him back in an England shirt soon as we saw the impact he had at Edgbaston,"
