England head coach Trevor Bayliss lavished praise on his pace spearhead James Anderson for his spectacular display at the Lord’s Test against India, saying he is the 'very, very best' and could play Test cricket until he is 40.

Anderson finished with the figures of 9 for 43 to help England to register a massive win of an inning and 159 runs in the second Test at Lord's to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series against India.

Bayliss was quoted as saying by icc-cricket.com, “He's not just good when the conditions suit him, but in these conditions he's the best in the world. A lot of other bowlers do start to drop off mid-30s or so. It's only the very, very best that are able to keep it going. He's showing that he is the very, very best.”

At the moment, Anderson has 553 Test wickets to his name and needs only 10 scalps to equal Australia legend Glenn McGrath's record tally (563) for a fast bowler.

The English coach also believes that the pacer have to keep himself fit to play Test cricket for the next 3-4 years, then no one could stop him from playing Red-ball cricket for England. He signed off by saying, “As long as he keeps his body fit, there's no reason why he can't go on for three or four years.”

Noteworthy, Anderson claimed his 26th Test five-wicket haul on the Day 2 of the Lord's Test while England will next play India in the third Test at Trent Bridge from 18 August 2018 and the pacer will certainly eyeing for another match-winning outing for the hosts.
