ENG v IND 2018: Virat Kohli posts an emotional message for the fans after Lord's debacle

Team India is 0-2 down in the 5-match Tests series against England.

Much depends on Virat Kohli if India wants to make a comeback in the series | GettyTeam India is staring down in the barrel as they lost the second Test at Lord’s to England by an innings and 159 runs. Thanks to this result, India surrendered a 2-0 lead to England in the five-match Test series named the Pataudi Trophy.

England had beaten India by 31 runs in the first Test at Birmingham in what was a tightly fought match. Many had expected a fight from Team India at Lord’s where they had won a Test in 2014 series. However, under overcast conditions, James Anderson ran through the India batting lineup with 9 wickets in the match including 5/20 in the first innings. Then Chris Woakes compiled his first Test century and remained unbeaten on 137* and the match was over for India when England took a 289-run lead.

Virat Kohli admitted that he erred in picking the required playing combination in the match. He was also plagued by his lower back problems and was off the field for quite a well. His bat also remained a bit quiet and the team is facing fire from every quarter possible.

With three more Tests to go in the series and the next Test will begin on August 18 at Trent Bridge; Virat Kohli has gone into salvage mode and posted a very inspirational message on Facebook. He thanked the fans of Indian cricket team for backing them up. He remained positive in his message and hoped for the best going forward.

Kohli wrote, “Sometimes we win and other times we learn. You never give up on us and we promise to never give up on you either. Onwards and upwards.
