Rashid is only 14th player to not contribute in a Test match win despite being in playing XI.

Spinner Adil Rashid had a controversial call back to the England Test side. He had signed a no red-ball cricket contract with Yorkshire and had featured in only limited overs game since last few years.

But still, Rashid played both the Tests against India.  He got to bowl in the first Test and the lower order batsman also added some important runs for his team which changed the game at Edgbaston. But in the second Test, he remained empty-handed throughout the match. He didn't bat, nor bowled or took a catch during the two innings of Team India.

He became just the 14th player in the history of the game to complete a Test match without bowling, batting, or contributing as a field. Though, the first English cricketer in last 11 years to do so, will still get £12,500 (11,09,220 rupees) as his match fees according to media reports.

The dryness beneath the green surface had forced both the teams to add spinners in their playing XI. However, the change in conditions due to rains meant that England captain Joe Root didn't require Rashid to spin his magic web of spin.

The last Englishmen to register similar record by his name was off-spinner Gareth Batty at Lord's back in 2005 when England beat Bangladesh by 261 runs.
