James Anderson became the first bowler to take 100 wickets at Lord’s as England routed India by an innings and 159 runs on the fourth day of the second Test. Anderson achieved this feat when he removed Murali Vijay for a duck in India’s second innings. It was also his 550th wicket in the traditional format.

The right-arm pacer continued to trouble the visiting batsmen with his probing swing and pace. He then trapped KL Rahul plumb on the front with an angling delivery to knock India off balance. Later in the innings, Anderson didn’t allow Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammad Shami to open their account.

In the first innings, Anderson had wreaked havoc on the Indian batting line-up and claimed 5/20. It was his 26th five-wicket haul in 140 Tests. Seeing the bowling prowess of Anderson even at the age of 36, legendary South Africa speedster Dale Steyn couldn’t stop himself to praise his contemporary.

Taking to Twitter, Steyn wrote: “I love how quick Jimmy is between deliveries. No stares, no words, no fuss. Gets back to his mark, bowls with intent, intelligence and great energy. Man knows what he wants (wkts) and most of all, he knows how to get them. Impressive bro.”

After the Lord’s Test, Anderson has 553 Test scalps to his name and now he needs 11 more wickets to break the record of most Test wickets by a fast bowler in cricket history. Australia’s Glenn McGrath holds the record of most wickets (563) by a pacer in Test cricket.
