Team India faced a humiliating defeat from a potentially winning position at Edgbaston. After having the initiative in the first three days, India gave it to their opposition on Day 4 when they lost the remaining 5 wickets in the second innings in their quest of chasing 84 more for victory. 

Kohli's batting was the only positive in India's otherwise lacklustre batting order which failed to weather the storm of the England bowlers. 

Ahead of the start of the second Test from August 9, Kohli was seen to sweat it out at the nets. The likes of Vijay, Dhawan, Rahul and Rahane were big failures in both the innings as India missed a certain Cheteshwar Pujara in the batting line up. 

Since India's defeat, there has been several former cricket experts speaking about Pujara's inclusion in the next Test match at Lord's. His presence in the middle order will certainly give the Indian middle order a lot of stability. 

Kohli and Pujara can certainly stem the Indian middle order which in the first Test looked really feeble.
