England and India are currently engaged in an enthralling game of Test cricket that keeps the purists interested in the game and consider it to be the best format of international cricket.

England started day three on 9/1, which became 18/2 as Ashwin removed Jennings for 8 and then removed Root for 14, leaving England reeling at 39/3. Then Ishant Sharma ripped the heart out of England middle order as he removed Malan (20), Bairstow (28), Stokes (6) and Buttler (1) and England was left 87/7 with England looking at a very low score to defend in the fourth innings.

But then Sam Curran scored his first fifty in Test cricket (63 in 65 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes) and with support from Rashid (16) and Broad (11), took England to 180, with a lead of 193 runs. Ishant Sharma ended up with 5/51, Ashwin picked 3/59 and Umesh Yadav too got 2/20.

India required 194 runs to win the match and take the lead of 1-0 in the Test series.

However, with the ball swinging overcast conditions, Vijay got out for 6, trapped LBW by Broad, who also dismissed Dhawan and Rahul for an identical score of 13 each. Curran removed Rahane for 2 and Anderson took care of Ashwin, to leave India 78/5 with first innings hero Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik to stave off the England fast bowlers and keep the hope of a win alive, restarting afresh on Day four.
