'Watch and learn', says the former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar after witnessing an amazing century from Indian skipper Virat Kohli against England at Edgbaston on Thursday.

Virat is raising his standard day by day and Akhtar wants the world to learn from him. The benchmark Kohli has set now has made the game more competitive.

The 29-year-old scored his 22nd Test hundred which was also his first hundred in England. Lack of runs in English conditions has always been on critic's mouth which the Delhi batsman has now shut with his bat.

When he came in to bat in India's first innings, the tourists were losing wickets quickly. Sam Curran had made Indians panic with his beautiful display of swing bowling. India lost 3 wickets in just 9 runs after putting up a 50-run partnership for the first wicket. The recovery was done for a while but when they reached 100-run mark, India had to lose two more wickets and things started looking tough for the visitors.

It was Virat alone with some sensible batting from tailenders which saved India from losing grip of the game.

Akhtar lauded the Indian stalwart for the awe-inspiring innings and wrote, "What a century @imVkohli!!! The last time he went to England he failed miserably, but this time he has improved so much shows what an amazing player he is and also his dedication and determination. He proved everyone wrong on this tour! #viratkohli #ENGvsIND."

He added, "Virat quality of batting amazes me that he has the ability to score runs with lower order @ the same strike rate with top order which is incredible...I think virat kohli is the benchmark for world batsman’s to follow."
