Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli has managed to put '1996' into Virat Kohli's stunning innings at Edgbaston against England on Thursday. The Indian skipper scored 149 and the celebration reminded Kambli of his own innings he played 22 years back.

Kambli had score 106 runs against Zimbabwe coming in at number 5. India were 3 down on 32 and the southpaw had done the repair of damage done by Zimbabwean frontline bowlers.

In the tweet, Vinod shared after Kohli's ton, the former cricketer can be seen kissing a rink around his neck quite similar to Virat who does this often after completing a milestone.

"A celebration of similar fashion.. One’s wife witnessed it, another’s was at home..???? ???? #LordoftheRINGS," he wrote.

The Indian captain saved India from embarrassment on the second day of the first Test. India not only managed to minimize England's lead in first innings, they only picked up one wicket at the end of second's day play.

England finished day one on 9-1 with a lead of 22 runs.
