ENG vs IND 2018: Dropping KL Rahul is not the way you treat a youngster, says VVS Laxman

KL Rahul was dropped from the side for the series decider in Leeds.

VVS Laxman and KL Rahul

Former Indian Cricketer, VVS Laxman has come out and expressed a universal sentiment regarding one big decision that India made in the final ODI of the series against England at Headingley. VVS hailed dropping KL Rahul as a big mistake on the Indian team management's part and said this is "not the way to treat a youngster."

What spurred on the debate further is the fact that India lost very badly in the series decider and gave away the series which once looked in their grasp, 2-1.

Talking on ESPNcricinfo post-match show, VVS said, “Well. if the changes are not because of injuries then I am really disappointed. The reason for that is, this is not the first time this is happening with KL Rahul. It’s just one inning where he failed. In the first match, he was unbeaten when India won the match at Trent Bridge,”

“If you treat a player, especially when you know that he is a class player. You have to make sure he performs well. I think this is not the way to treat a youngster,”

Handling young players and getting the best out of them is part of any sporting culture's job and KL Rahul is a gem India Cricket must have a lot of time for.
