It was a performance befitting of the no.1 ranked ODI side in the world, when Eoin Morgan's men put India across their best performance with the series on the line in the second ODI of the ongoing 3-match ODI series.

Batting first England reached a huge score of 322 on the back of a good start from the openers Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy before Eoin Morgan and David Willey both scored the fifties to bat around the absolutely magnificent Joe Root who amassed 113 from just 116 balls on a surface where England needed his prowess against the spin of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal to come through.

He did and so did England, as the visitors failed to get going at all batting second against the exceptionally accurate English spin duo of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid before getting bowled out for an embarrassing 236 in their 50 overs.

It was a performance that delighted the England Captain Eoin Morgan, as he said after the match, "The way he(Joe Root) accumulates an innings and sets up the backbone of our innings. He's the glue of our batting, I thought we bounced back really well, similar to the T20I series. Learned from the first game and improved. Challenges against spin on a similar surface, if not a tougher one. Joe was excellent and the boys upfront were good too"

"The bowlers put on a clinical performance as well. Well, it worked out (the decision to bat). It's my home ground and it's good that it paid off,"

England's clinical performance impressed everyone, as the former Pakistan off-spinner and now spin bowling consultant for the England Cricket Board(ECB), the affable Saqlain Mushtaq took to the social media network Twitter and appreciated the England team.
