Consistent run by England openers

Like always in recent times, England batting openers provided them with a solid opening start in the first ODI. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow started off in a great style for England, they had gathered 73 runs for the opening partnership against India before Kuldeep Yadav removed both the openers.

Both the right-hand batsmen scored 38 each off 35 balls. Yet again England's opener stood up to their reputation of scoring runs until Kuldeep Yadav came once again to the limelight.

England surrender to Kuldeep's wrist spin

After the first wicket was fallen for 73, every English batsman fell to Kuldeep Yadav's wrist web as he clinched six wickets against them in the first ODI match. With Yadav taking six wickets in an ODI match, he became the first left-arm wrist spin bowler to take six wickets.

Kuldeep Yadav once again sprung to the limelight, terrorising the England batsmen with his variations on a pitch that wasn't exactly as tough as the batsmen made it out to be. He has till now grabbed 11 wickets on this tour of England.

Kuldeep Yadav even got some support from his other bowling partners. Debutant Siddarth Kaul, Umesh Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal bowled out the home team on 268 with 5 balls left in their innings.

Kohli's Important Knock

Indian captain Virat Kohli played an important knock of 75 against England to help his batting partner Rohit Sharma in the chase of 268 after he was back at his original position. He played a captain's knock to lead his team from the front. Kohli struck seven boundaries to make it easy for his batting partner Rohit Sharma as India won by 8 wickets.

Everyone was expecting KL Rahul to bat at number 3, but captain Kohli had something different planned which went off really well for the visiting team. The number 1 ODI batsman is all set to cross 10,000 runs very soon in the limited overs format.

India's win at Trent Bridge

Team India was ruthless on the field as they won the first ODI against England by 8 wickets. It was an impressive win from India as they registered their second biggest win against England in England in terms of balls to spare. It was Kuldeep Yadav exploits and Rohit Sharma's batting heroic that led India to one of their successive wins.

The next match will be really important for the home team as the visitors have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The second ODI match will take place at Lord's cricket ground where India will look to finish off things for England.
