The magician Kuldeep Yadav was back again, though, with the same trick. But he still managed to deceive his audience, who were England batsmen once again in the first ODI.
The Indian chinaman bowler was just too good for Eoin Morgan and team to tackle . Before he came into bowl, England was riding safely towards a big target. But as soon as he was given the ball by his skipper, no English batsmen looked like taking their team out of the quicksand.
Kuldeep ended with a career-best 6/25 and England were restricted to just 268 on a pitch where two of the highest ODI scores were posted.
After being awarded the man-of-the-match, Kuldeep said it's a big day for him. “For me, it’s a big day. I started pretty well, luckily I got some early wickets. For me, it doesn’t matter where I’m playing. There was a little bit of turn. After the first over I felt in the game,” he said.
The youngster is hoping for his name in the Test squad after a brilliant performance in limited overs. “If you are using your variations it’s more difficult for the batsmen. I’m hoping for the Test squad, let’s see,” Kuldeep said.
India and England will play a five-match Test series which will begin from August 1.
Kuldeep would be a bit relieved after hearing the skipper Virat Kohli hinting about his inclusion in the longer format. "Anything is possible with the selections for Tests and there might be a few surprises. Kuldeep is making a strong case for himself and so is Chahal. And looking at the way, the English batsmen have struggled against them, we might be tempted to do it. But the focus now is winning the next two games. Especially the next game looking at it from the series perspective," he said after the game.
