Seeing India’s success in recent times, former India captain Sourav Ganguly has lauded Virat Kohli for being a fantastic leader, who takes everyone along. In particular, Ganguly is pleased with the way Virat has shown faith in the veteran wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni.

The 37-year-old Dhoni had stepped down as India's limited-overs captain in January 2017. However, he continues to guide the bowlers and is often seen sharing his valuable inputs to Kohli. In fact, the Indian captain himself seeks suggestion from the experienced glovesman when it comes to field placing or making a crucial call for DRS referral.

"Virat Kohli is a brilliant captain. He always wants his team to win. Virat has handled MS Dhoni well. We haven't seen this happen in the past. Normally, former captains fade away with time. But Virat has given confidence to Dhoni that he is still an important player for the team in ODIs and T20Is," Ganguly told India TV.

In the third and final T20I against England, Dhoni accomplished a unique feat as he became the first cricketer to take five catches in a match and also reach 50 scalps in the shortest format.

"Dhoni is a great player. He has played in so many matches, he has captained India in so many matches. He is a legend. The next World Cup is just an year away and it will be played in England. Till then, I feel Dhoni will have an important role to play in the team," he added.

Meanwhile, Team India kicked off their England tour on a high as they won the three-match Twenty20 International series 2-1. While Virat Kohli and company registered a thumping 8-wicket victory in the first T20I at Old Trafford, they made a stellar comeback to win the series decider T20I in Bristol.

The Men in Blue will now face England in the three-match One-Day International series, starting at Trent Bridge on Thursday (July 12).
