Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently having to go through the agony of watching his teammates play against England without featuring in the side, due to a fractured thumb on his bowling hand, might have to bear the pain for longer than people are expecting. The BCCI has officially announced Bumrah's replacement for the ODIs and the team management want him to be fit in time for the first Test but according to the reports coming in, the right-arm fast bowler might not be able to recover in time for that.

The rehabilitation in case of such a surgery takes from five to six weeks and if the bowler reacts well and makes swift progress, he could well be back on the flight to England just in time for the second Test.

Bumrah was excellent with the Kookaburra ball in South Africa, where having received his debut cap for his very good record of 103 wickets from 29 first-class games, he took 14 wickets from the 3 games at a strike-rate of 48.0, with a matchwinning 5-fer in the first innings of the Johannesburg Test standing out.

Bumrah suffered the finger injury against Ireland in the first T20 international in Dublin while attempting to take a catch in the 20th over of the Ireland innings off his own bowling.

The Test squad is likely to be announced in a few days time.
