England medium-fast bowler, Stuart Broad is in quest to make a recovery in time to be fit for the 5-Test series against India later in the home summer. Broad is aiming to recover from an ankle injury to take part in domestic first-class cricket for his county Nottinghamshire later this month, to get some serious cricket under his belt before the marquee series against the visitors.

Broad, who only plays red-ball cricket these days and last played in the Headingley Test against Pakistan in May, sustained an injury last week playing against Worcestershire and had to limp away from the play mid-way through. The 32-year-old is longing to return for Nottinghamshire when they take on Surrey in the County Championship, starting on July 22.

In a recent Instagram post, Broad clarified, “I’ve had some injections in my left ankle for an ongoing ligament problem after seeing brilliant specialists and having different scans, It needs five days’ rest, then aiming to run Tuesday and build up quickly with an aim to play for Notts CC against Surrey CCC July 22nd. That’s the plan!!”

The five-match Test series starts on August 1.
