In order to prove their fitness for the first Test against India, England pacers James Anderson and Stuart Broad are likely to return to first-team action.

As per the reports in The Telegraph, Lancashire have arranged a second XI three-day game on July 15 especially for Anderson, who was given a six-week layoff by England to manage his long-standing shoulder injury.

There had been reports suggesting that Anderson could take part in Surrey’s three-day tour match against West Indies A at the Oval between July 16-18. However, Lancashire have set up the second team game so that Anderson does not have to travel.

On the other hand, Broad, who limped out of Nottinghamshire's last Championship match, is expected to be back playing again for Nottinghamshire in the Championship on July 22. An injection should help Broad to deal with the injury.

Following the limited-overs series, India and England will square off in a five-match Test series, scheduled to commence on August 1 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
