Deepak Chahar was picked in the Indian team for T20I series against England after pacer Jasprit Bumrah suffered an injury to his thumb of his non-bowling hand in the first T20I against Ireland in Malahide.

Chahar is currently playing for India A squad in England in the 50-over tri-series featuring England Lions and West Indies A. After three games in that series, Chahar topped India's wickets charts, with seven wickets at 12.71 and an economy rate of 4.04.

Deepak's sister Malti Chahar is cock-a-hoop over her brother's maiden call in the Indian team. "I still have my goosebumps... my father is busy over phone... finally dreams come true..I don’t have words Bhaiiiiiii???????????????? @deepak_chahar9 ???????????????????????? #bleedblue #indian #cricket #team #csk," she wrote.

Playing for Chennai Super Kings, Chahar picked up most of his wickets in the powerplay overs, as he got the ball to swing both ways in the first six overs. He was given fair chance by skipper MS Dhoni which he utilized really well.

Chahar will look to grab the opportunity with both hands. Going by his recent form, he may support the experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the powerplay.
