Hashim Amla, South African batting great and Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi’s batting mentor, was highly impressed with Karachi Kings' skipper Babar Azam’s “work ethic”, saying Pakistan captain’s form for his age was “remarkable”.

Amla has heaped praise on Azam, who is currently leading Karachi Kings in the ongoing PSL 2020, saying the star batsman is a great talent and a wonderful player.

As per reports in Cricket Pakistan, Amla said: “Babar Azam is a wonderful player. He is getting better and better. At the young age he is at, he will have to go through ups and downs like anybody but he is a great talent and his work ethic is very good.”

On his experience in Pakistan, the Proteas said: “It’s been a very enjoyable trip. To be very honest, the security arrangements have been excellent. We have thoroughly enjoyed how professional everything has been.”

He also joked how he now called the Zalmi skipper "Darren Sammy-stan" after former West Indian skipper was recently announced to receive the honorary citizenship and Nishan-e-Pakistan for his service to cricket in the country.

Amla signed off by saying, “Darren has done so much in creating this awareness of bringing international cricket back to Pakistan. It is a fantastic honor for him. We joke about how he is now Darren Sammy-stan. It’s great for him and I think it is a wonderful initiative.”
