PSL 2020: Multan Sultans clinch victory over Peshawar Zalmi to top the points table

Multan Sultans won by six wickets to go on top of PSL 2020 points table | GettyEarly days in this year's edition of the Pakistan Super League but Multan Sultans would've felt happy to have reached the top of the six-team points table after defeating Peshawar Zalmi handsomely in their first home game of the season on Wednesday (February 26). 

Sultans, deciding to bowl first after winning the toss, bundled out the opponent for just 123 in less than 19 overs as Sohail Tanvir (4/13), Mohammad Irfan (2/31), and Mohammad Ilyas (2/23) dominated the proceedings, taking eight wickets between them.

Haider Ali (47) played a fine knock at No.3 for Peshawar but there was nothing from rest of the batting line-up to write home about. 

In the run-chase, the Sultans lost early wickets before middle-order batsmen Rilee Rossouw (49*), Khushdil Shah (43*) ensured there were no more hiccups as they played mature knocks to safely take their team home. 

Rahat Ali (1/20), Hasan Ali (1/22) bowled fine spells first up, and they were backed nicely by Wahab Riaz (2/36) who also took a couple of wickets, but Zalmi never had enough runs to play with.
