In his first innings after having bagged the "Player-of-the-Tournament" award for a prolific run in the recently-concluded U-19 World Cup, Yashasvi Jaiswal fell just short of an epic double hundred, smashing the Puducherry bowling attack to all corners for a terrific innings of 185 runs for Mumbai in the U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy. 

The left-hand batsman continued his excellent form after dominating bowling attacks throughout the junior World Cup in foreign conditions in South Africa where he scored 400 runs in six innings at an astonishing average of 133.33, including four half-centuries and a brilliant hundred in the semi-final against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Before the marquee tournament in the rainbow nation, Jaiswal also had an outstanding season of Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai when he made 564 runs in six innings at an average of 112.80, including three hundreds, one of those a magnificent double ton, in the country's premier domestic List A competition. 

But this knock in the CK Nayudu Trophy is crucial for Yashasvi as he now goes about trying to find a regular spot in the Mumbai Ranji Trophy line-up. 

The youngster also has an IPL stint with Rajasthan Royals to look forward to this season where he'll be sharing the dressing room with the likes of Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, and Jos Buttler. 

"For me, it is very good opportunity to play in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals because I can go and talk with the World's best players like Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler," Jaiswal had told India Today. 

"I am really excited to learn from them. It will be exciting for me as it is my first IPL and I will try my best to do whatever I can."
